Steve Grogan ~ an interview and his novel ~ Maybe The Dream Knows What Is Real

I AM PLEASED TO WELCOME AUTHOR
Steve Grogan

BLURB:
He was lost, directionless, unable to find his identity. He thought he found it in her, which was good because he was teetering on the edge of madness. She had no way of knowing her actions would push him over it.

This novella is part splatterpunk, part erotica, part psychological study of an unstable mind, told in Steve's highly visual and deeply emotional prose.

Some stories have protagonists/narrators for which you can feel empathy, or at the very least you can feel sorry for them. This isn't one of those tales.

This is a story about a young man who makes the mistake of depending on others to give him a sense of self-worth. It is a dark, disturbing story not meant for the faint of heart. The graphic content makes up only 15% of the prose, but it is some of the most harrowing writing ever committed to page.

BANTER – STUFF ABOUT YOU
Q: Are you a morning person, or a midnight candle burner?A: I am more of a morning person, but if something happens (for example, I get inspiration for a story) late at night, then I can stay up for a long time.

Q: Tell me one thing about each of the four seasons you like. It can be anything.
A:  Winter = cuddling weather
Spring = not too hot, not too cold
Summer = no need to shiver endlessly when getting out of the shower
Fall = hoody weather, plus it is the season of Halloween

Q: Tell me something you would like your readers (fans) to know about you.
A: I will always write from my gut, NEVER just to cash in on a trend.

BOOKS – ABOUT THE CRAFT
Q: When did you start writing and why?
A: Seventh grade. I had no friends, and my piece of garbage stepfather was in my life. I wanted to create a world where I had control.

Q: Where do you get your ideas?
A: Sometimes they are based on things that happened to me, and I want to make them turn out a different way, so I stick them in a story and have things turn out differently than they did in reality. Other times they come to me in the form of “what if” questions.

Q: How did you come to write your genre of choice?
A: Well, I write in a few different genres, so there are a few answers for that. I got into horror because of Stephen King and Clive Barker. In tenth grade someone told me the song “Killing an Arab” by the Cure was based on THE STRANGER by Albert Camus, so I read that, and a whole new world of possibilities opened up to me. After reading that, I consumed a lot of books that you used to be able to find in the high-falutin’ “literary” section of a book store, like ULYSSES, GRAVITY’S RAINBOW, and NAKED LUNCH.

Q: What do you think is the hardest part of writing a book?
A: If you create a world in your story that has certain rules (for example, a virus kills half the world’s population), then you must always STICK to them. Sometimes there might be a temptation to deviate from the rules for a dramatic purpose, but if you do that, then you are betraying yourself and the reader.

Q: What is your favorite part of writing?
A: Turning the skeletal outline in my mind into a fully fleshed out story.

Q; Now your least favorite part?
A: Having to put writing on hold so I can promote! (I don’t have enough time in my life to do both. Promoting one story means not being able to write a new one.)

BOOKS - NOW LETS PROMOTE – STRUT YOUR STUFF
Q: What are you working on now? Would you like to share anything about it?
A: I’ve got a lot of ideas that haven’t been written yet. The one I am going to work on next is about a guy who wakes up one day and finds he has the ability to heal people. Word gets out about this, and it soon takes over his life.

Q: Do you have a new book coming out soon? Tell us about it.
A: Not at the moment.

Q: How can we find you? Do you have a web page, FaceBook page or any buy links?
A: https://stevegroganauthor.com/ and here is a link for the story I am promoting the most these days: https://www.amazon.com/Maybe-Dream-Knows-What-Real-ebook/dp/B07F1QTN8R/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=maybe+the+dream+knows+what+is+real+steve+grogan&qid=1574543306&sr=8-1

Minerva, the curator and caretaker of the museum meets the chosen mystic walker. Through the magic that has been entrusted to her, Minerva supplies them with the opportunity to change their lives.

TEASER / EXCERPT:

Adam held Korina in his arms, one arm under her back and the other under her knees. He felt like a little boy with a Christmas present. Oh, how he looked forward to opening this present. Korina’s head fell backwards and her braid swayed as he walked. If he were shorter he'd be stepping on it. He looked forward to seeing those blonde strands draped loosely about her in bed. His cock began to swell at the image that created in his mind. A moan slipped from between Korina’s lips. It was almost as if she were attuned to his erotic thoughts.

He shifted her in his arms so that her head lay on his chest near his shoulder. When her arms snaked around his neck, his heart skipped a beat. She was holding him. At that moment he fell in love with her.

TEASER / EXCERPT:
His hand connected sharply with her flesh three times, and then came to rest almost tenderly caressing her soft and now warm mounds. That caress felt wonderful, causing her anger to fall swiftly away. She could feel her pussy getting wet. She was caught off guard when he suddenly lifted her off his thighs and jumped up from the bale he’d used as a seat. When he released her she was unsteady on her feet. As she tried to gain her balance, she almost fell into his arms. His hands closed around her upper arms as he supported her. He groaned. She looked up into his eyes, her palms on his chest.

The angry eyes that had stunned her were now filled with desire and lust. Desire the likes of which she had never seen. Her pussy reacted to it instantaneously. Of their own accord, her hands moved up his chest. Through her fingertips and palms she noted his rapid breathing. Her body betrayed her and moved into his, a silent invitation.

“Shit,” he said as he wrapped his arms around her.

Her head tilted back and her lips parted. He growled just before his lips met hers in a brutal kiss. She didn’t fight him, she surrendered and reveled in her body’s response to this man. She was hot and emotionally involved in the act. So what if it wasn’t love. She could do angry sex if this was how it made her feel. Shamika wanted this man. She’d never experienced this kind of desire before, hot and needy, all-consuming. Harold didn’t like her that much she knew, but she didn’t care. The only thing that mattered was the fact that he wanted her.

Joseph Albanese ~ an interview and his novel ~ Candy Apple Red

I AM PLEASED TO WELCOME AUTHOR

Joseph Albanese

Now Available
Title: Candy Apple Red
Genre: Erotic Thriller
Word count: 32,000
118 Pages
BLURB
Dating has never been a strength for Teagan. In fact, most of her dates consist of one night stands with married men. Second dates only include blackmail. Trapped as the third wheel of her friend, Mara and her boyfriend, Brandon, Teagan has only seen normal relationships from the outside. That may change when she meets Dean, a well-to-do man with a heart of gold. As her schemes start to spiral out of her control, Teagan must find a way to maintain a normal relationship with men and with herself…but the blood she craves is always within reach.

AUTHOR BIO:
Joe Albanese is a writer from South Jersey. His work can be found in publication across the U.S. and in ten other countries. Joe is the author of Caina, Smash and Grab, Candy Apple Red, For the Blood is the Life, Benevolent King, and a poetry collection, Cocktails with a Dead Man.

BANTER – STUFF ABOUT YOU

Q; What is your least favorite word? Is there a reason?
A: China, as in fine china. I have no problem with the word China in reference to the country. I don’t know why, maybe because it sounds like vagina. Though I have no problem with the word vagina.

Q: Bedtime, relaxing so you can sleep sounds. Is your preference, white noise, TV, soft music, ocean waves, forest or meadow sounds, babbling brook, or something else?
A: TV on lightly. It has to be something I’ve seen before so I can follow while my eyes are closed. My girlfriend thinks I’m psychotic for being able to sleep while horror movies play in the background.

Q: What is the sexiest thing on a man?
A: Confidence and kindness…although chiseled abs and a bulging biceps really get me—Uh, I mean, I’m straight…I like women. Phew, close call, Joe.

Q: Favorite color?
A: I usually say blue. I had a poem published called “What’s Your Favorite Color?” that explained why it’s blue, but I think orange is my actual favorite color—it reminds me of Halloween, my favorite holiday.

BOOKS – ABOUT THE CRAFT

Q: When did you start writing and why?
A: About seven years ago. My friend asked me to write a screenplay with him one night. He was high. I was sober, so I have no excuse for why I said yes. Eventually I switched over to writing books. I’m still sober, so I still have no excuse for why I think it’s a good idea.

Q: Are you a sit down and play it by ear kind of writer, or do you need a structured guideline, or maybe a little of both?
A: Most of my books were structured to death. Smash and Grab is my only book that I just sat down and started writing.

Q: When crafting the story do you go from beginning to end, or do you jump around writing the scenes that are pushing themselves forward in your brain?
A: When structuring, I jump around. When actually writing, I go from start to finish in that order. This way I can force myself through the tough scenes to get to the ones I was looking forward to.

BOOKS - NOW LET’S PROMOTE – STRUT YOUR STUFF

Q: What are you working on now? Would you like to share anything about it?
A: Currently I’m just working on new poems and getting them published in literary magazines. Hopefully they’ll eventually turn into my second collection. If I get an idea for a book that I really love I’ll probably switch my focus to that.

Q: Do you have a new book coming out soon? Tell us about it.
A: All of my books are currently available through online retailers.

Q: How can we find you? Do you have a web page, FaceBook page or any buy links?
A: You can find me on twitter @JoeAlba88…I post links to my books and my writing when it’s published online. I refrain from political tweets so I don’t annoy my followers. You can search Joe Albanese on Amazon to find my books. Additionally, I can also be found on Goodreads.

BLURB:

Rowena Milestone, corporate executive, has an accomplished career. Yet one thing eludes her. Try as she might she can’t seem to have an orgasm even though she likes sex. Her position in the corporate man’s world tends to intimidate her dates. They perform well enough in bed, but they just don’t push her over the edge, until she meets Stephen.

Stephen Sloan has a secret. He belongs to a very special, no holds barred, anything goes sex club. He never thought he’d meet anyone like Rowena there, so he wanted to believe her outrageous story that she didn’t know how she’d gotten there. When she disappeared without a trace he knew she’d been telling the truth. Now armed with three pieces of information he is determined to find her.

Rowena was devastated when the curator of the museum couldn’t help. Minerva had said, "If the universe is willing, he will come to you." Fat chance she has of that happening.

Here is the premise for the Mystic Museum Series
Minerva’s Mystic Museum is located in New York City. Every full moon the “powers that be” choose someone from the visitors of the museum. This someone, known as the mystic walker, will be the hero/heroine of the novel. The “powers” select someone they feel deserves a second chance, or just a chance to follow their destiny. Minerva, the curator and caretaker of the museum meets the chosen mystic walker. Through the magic that has been entrusted to her, Minerva supplies them with the opportunity to change their lives.

TEASER / EXCERPT:
Rowena slipped into her clothes as quietly as possible. She picked up her shoes then tiptoed out of the bedroom.

This is why she never went back to her apartment with the date. She didn’t like sneaking out into the night like a thief, but she’d learned it was easier for her and for the man if she did. She’d suffered through enough uncomfortable breakfasts, embarrassing good-byes, and the untruthful “I’ll call you” to know when to cut her losses.

There had to be a man out there who could surprise her, someone who could bring her to orgasm. She’d had one, so she knew they existed. She was getting tired of searching for another. It was always so close and yet so far. She liked sex. She liked it a lot. Why else would she keep trying?

GUEST POST:

Read a Book, Help a Cowboy

For most rodeo athletes it is a matter of when they get hurt, not if.

Many are uninsured and for those who find themselves out of work for months on end, the injury can be devastating physically, emotionally, and financially.

That’s where the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund steps in. The JCCF provides financial assistance to rodeo athletes who’ve sustained catastrophic injuries that leave them unable to compete for an extended time. Rather than worry about how they’ll pay their bills, they can focus on healing.

Because she grew up around cowboys and loves to include them in the stories she writes, author Shanna Hatfield supports the JCCF through her Read a Book, Help A Cowboy campaign. In its sixth year, the campaign raises funds and awareness for the JCCF. Now through Christmas Eve, Hatfield will donate ten percent of the proceeds from every book purchase to the JCCF.

A wonderful addition to this year’s campaign is Hatfield’s brand-new book called A Cowboy Christmas. The book features 300 pages of western holiday fun with more than 70 full-color recipes.

RECIPE

Chocolate Chex Trees

These yummy and adorable trees are so simple to make and a great project if you have kids at home who need something to do. Set them on a disposable plate, foil-wrapped piece of cardboard, or a large sugar cookie wrapped in cellophane for gift-giving!

Ingredients:
3 cups Chex Chocolate cereal
6 pretzel sticks (the thick kind, made for dipping)
½ cup peanut butter
¼ cup Nutella
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar

Directions:
Mix the peanut butter, Nutella, butter, and powdered sugar in a bowl.

On whatever you plan to use for a base, mold the peanut butter mixture around the pretzel stick until it stands upright and forms a slight cone shape.

Hold it steady by using the tip of the pretzel as a handle and begin inserting pieces of cereal into the peanut butter mixture in a symmetrical pattern around the stick. You can tip the cereal pieces up or down, depending on your personal preference. Add more cereal pieces, staggering them as you move upward, until you get near the top.

For the top of the tree, use broken pieces or cut them in half to get the smaller scale of branches near the top.

Use two pieces of cereal back to back to form the top.

Dust with powdered sugar.

Makes 6 trees

No one knows her true origin. Time readers can't read this ruthless telekinetic, who snaps necks with a mere hand gesture.

Tej, once a simple villager, now a time traveler, is pulled into conflict as she attacks him in 3057 BC, hunting for his friend. Dead bodies of his loved ones pile up as she ravages through his village. Intending to seek justice Tej races against time itself to fight her: an entity so vile, even her own kind fear her. But can he do this alone?

Traveling to the futuristic world of robotic armies and virtual realities, Tej builds questionable alliances. It's a matter of not 'where' but 'when' can he battle his enemy. If he loses, humanity may never regain its freedom - but winning may cost the ultimate price.
