Tarrah Anders ~ presents ~ In The End: A Quarantine Romance

Title: In The End: A Quarantine Romance
Author: Tarrah Anders
Genre: Romantic Suspense

Blurb

Kendall Jameson was traveling when the outbreak started. All she knew was what she heard on the radio. There was a virus, a sickness being spread across the country, and everyone was running scared. On her way home, she makes one last stop to see her best friend and by fate or chance or by simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time, she finds herself quarantined inside by a sudden military presence.

She doesn't carry the virus, and as far as she knows, neither does anyone else in the facility but the men guarding the store doesn't seem to care and she knows they’re not letting her go anywhere anytime soon.

Levi James never expected that his National Guard unit would be ordered to confine over two hundred civilians inside a retail store, but orders are orders. He’s here to do a job. That’s all these people are, until he meets her.

They connect instantly over their similar surnames and the comfortability while getting to know one another.

Instant attraction sparks and their forced confinement gives them the chance to become more than strangers, even more than friends.

When Levi starts to feel sick, he worries he might be the threat they’re all so worried about. But Kendall refuses to leave his side.

If this is really the end, she wants to spend it with him.

Will they be separated and lose one another forever, or can they overcome the virus and live to fight another day?

About Tarrah Anders

I am a contemporary romance author who is all about the feels, with the twists of sexy mixed in between. I have been writing since before I can remember. Writing has always been a passion, that was kept it under wraps, stayed on the back-burner and never vocalized or followed through with my desire to be a writer, until I read a horrible book and thought: ‘I could do better than that!’

I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but living in beautiful San Diego with my little family while working during the day as a social worker working with the homeless.

My writing style is that I try to write realistic characters and situations. I want my books to be relatable and not to create too many eye rolls.

Thematically, the novels are friends to lovers, random hook-ups and office romances mixed with a whole lot of fun in the middle.

BLURB:
Adrian Asorio can't seem to move on after the death of his beloved wife Angelina. While trying to fill the lonely hours in his empty life, he discovers Minerva's Mystic Museum. A painting of a female artist painting a nude male model fascinates him. He finds himself thinking about, and wanting, the male model. He begins to question his sexuality.

Adrian is chosen as this full moon's mystic walker. He is transported to Dulce Isle where he meets Jon and Rosa in the flesh. Adrian must confront his newly discovered sexual orientation and overcome the guilt he feels.

Rosa DeVario and Jon Balentine shared a life with Rosa’s husband, Leon. When Leon died, both were heartbroken. Without Leon as their common denominator, Jon has reverted to his "loving men only" lifestyle, leaving Rosa without a partner.

Will Adrian's arrival on Dulce Isle be the answer that mends three tattered and broken lives? The universe has provided the opportunity…Adrian's heart holds the key.

Here is the premise for the Mystic Museum Series

Minerva’s Mystic Museum is located in New York City. Every full moon the “powers that be” choose someone from the visitors of the museum. This someone, known as the mystic walker, will be the hero/heroine of the novel. The “powers” select someone they feel deserves a second chance, or just a chance to follow their destiny. Minerva, the curator and caretaker of the museum meets the chosen mystic walker. Through the magic that has been entrusted to her, Minerva supplies them with the opportunity to change their lives.

TEASER / EXCERPT:

“This is Prince,” Jon said. “I know he looks like a brute, but he is forgiving of new riders. He will let you ride him just as I would.” And I really want you to ride me.

Adrian eyeballed the horse. “Are you sure?”

“Jon is right, Adrian. Prince is very gentle. He’ll let you mount and ride him. He won’t be doing anything that you can’t handle today,” Rosa added with a playful smile.

Jon hadn’t missed the undercurrent her words contained, and by the look Adrian shot her, he hadn’t either, although there was something different about his expression today. I’ll bet that little minx paid Adrian a visit last night. “I guess I’ll have to find out where I stand with him today,” he muttered. He put his hand on Adrian’s shoulder. “Put your foot in the stirrup and swing your leg over his back. I’ll stand here for support. I’ll give you a push up.”

Rosa laughed. “He has a fine ass, Jon. I’ll attest to that.”

“I thought so, but I’d like to find out for myself.”

Adrian swung himself onto the saddle. His face was just slightly flushed. He looked down at Jon. Jon’s hand was resting on Adrian’s thigh. Adrian didn’t seem to notice or mind. “She has a fine ass, too. I’ll attest to that.” He gave Jon a smile and a look filled with that intimate knowledge.

“Yes, she does. Maybe with you around, I can explore it again.”

Until Mila steps into his life and reminds him of his true passion: His love of music and performing.
A threat to Mila will force them to either confront their pasts or sacrifice their future together...

Excerpt

Tariq smiled down at her. “Good choice.”

“You’re not intimidated?” Those expressive green eyes were filled with such excitement, that even if he was, he couldn’t let her down.

“Not in the slightest.” It wasn’t his first choice, but he could do a good Julio if he needed. He could even do the Spanish accent . He narrowed his eyes at her. Yeah, he may just do that.

She nodded; her eyebrows raised. “I’m impressed.”

He walked ahead of her before taking her hand to lead her to the centre of the stage. Mila took a deep breath and looked directly at him.

Tariq closed his eyes as the intro to the song started. He sang the first line, looking directly at her. Her mouth fell open. It was good to know he surprised her. Clearly, she didn’t suspect he could sing. He sang the final line to the audience before turning to her.

Mila lifted the mic to her lips, and Tariq struggled to keep his head in the game. She sang the first of Dolly’s lines and then it was his chance to drop his jaw to the floor. She turned to the audience, as if singing directly at them. She had voice training , that much he could tell. At the chorus she turned to him. Their gazes met . Nothing beyond the two of them and the song existed.

With the next solo section, he couldn’t take his eyes off her while he sang. He wanted to be singing directly to her. The lyrics , some private communication between the two of them. Her solo section was the same. He heard the words and couldn’t imagine anyone else saying them to him.

As the second chorus played, they stepped closer to one another, their bodies merely inches from one another. She closed her eyes as she hit the high notes then rested them back on him. He took her free hand during the refrain. The musical interlude passed with them breathing hard, eyes fixed on another. Tariq didn’t know what was happening but singing with her was about more than music and lyrics.

They shared a connection, a scary one. One he should run away from, but that wasn’t an option. He took a deep breath for the final chorus. They were smiling at each other. Whatever was going on, it was intense. But they were enjoying it. He hadn’t enjoyed music in so long, and it was because of her. They took another step toward each other as they sang the last line of the song, ending with them within kissing distance.

Instead he dropped his mic and whispered in her ear. “Wanna get out of here?”

Or will Carolyn choose to return to the normal life she’d come to see as her due?

Here is the premise for the Mystic Museum Series

Minerva’s Mystic Museum is located in New York City. Every full moon the “powers that be” choose someone from the visitors of the museum. This someone, known as the mystic walker, will be the hero/heroine of the novel. The “powers” select someone they feel deserves a second chance, or just a chance to follow their destiny. TEASER / EXCERPT:

“Just stay close to me,” Jacob said. “Milo, we’ll meet at Larson’s Point in two hours. Keep your radio on.”

“I copy that,” Milo said as he headed in a northerly direction.

“You and I will head to the west,” Jacob said.

The late-afternoon sun filtered through the trees, casting shadows and mystical sunbeams through their branches. Without their mission, it would have been a romantic walk. The birds sent messages to each other through the still air. The air was fragrant with the smell of decaying leaves and the budding growth of a new season.

“I’ve forgotten how peaceful the woods are,” Carolyn said.

“So, you are used to the outdoors?”

“It’s been a long time, but yeah, I grew up in Kentucky. It was a small town and very rural. My parents had to drive me to the road for the school bus.”

“I think they do that around here, too.”

“I miss those days,” she said wistfully.

“So, you liked school?”

“Yes, I did, and I saw it as a way out. I did well enough in school to get a scholarship to a college. Now I’m a nurse in New York City.”

“New York? How did you get here?” He turned to her.

“I thought you knew the answer to that.” She looked at him expectantly.

“I saw you sitting there. I thought you were some kind of the vision, or a figment of my imagination. But then you came to me.” He looked at her intently and then looked away. “I’m not going to question how or why. I’m going to accept and enjoy it. Do you still want to leave?” He ventured a sideways glance at her.

“Not so much anymore. But if I stay, I’ll have to find some work.”

“There’s a hospital in Truckee. That’s not too far.”

“That’s good to know.”

“Milo and I want you to stay. We know you are meant for us.”

“What about Sven?”

Leslie and Sir James share the experience of losing a loved one. Will Leslie be the woman to break the curse? Or will she be just another victim.

TEASER / EXCERPT:
Leslie closed the door, turned, and leaned back against it. She glared at her roommate, Stephanie.

“What? Did I do something?” Stephanie asked in her British accent. Stephanie was sitting in the oversize loveseat that sat in front of the small television set. Her feet were resting on the coffee table. She had a container of ice cream in her lap and a spoon in her hand. She pressed the mute button on the remote control.

“No, it’s not you. It’s men! They’re the same here as they were in the States.”

“What do you mean?” Stephanie put a spoonful of the cold treat into her mouth.

“What happened to the first kiss being special? Every guy I’ve dated since David died has been interested in only one thing. He wants to get his tongue down my throat, and his hands in my pants, before he even knows my name. This guy called me babe all night. It was our first date for God’s sake. Couldn’t he wait until the second one before he had his hands all over me?”

“It’s sad, but that’s the way it is, luv.” Stephanie eyed up the empty spoon before digging in the carton for more.

“It shouldn’t be. There has to be somebody out there who’s not like that.”
Tell you what, next Saturday let’s go out to the Gypsy camp at Winford Estates. We can have our fortunes read. I went there once before, the woman was really good. Maybe she can tell you if you’re going to meet him.” Stephanie put the spoon in her mouth. She rolled her eyes to the back of her head, expressing her pleasure.

“Saturday sounds good to me.” At least I won’t have to worry about another groping date.

Leslie pushed away from the door and headed for her bedroom. She stripped and showered. Before going to bed she stood in front of the dresser. She looked at her lonely reflection in the mirror. She picked up the picture she kept on the dresser. She gently caressed the glass covering the picture. She and David vowed to take pictures of their life and the family they made together. She didn’t have many pictures of her family, and now everyone was gone. Her father died when she was in college. Her mother passed away shortly after she married David. She was an only child and wasn’t close to her only aunt. She sometimes wondered at that. She and David took the picture in her hand to start their family album. There would be no album.

The car crash took his life. He had been driving, but she still felt responsible. She wanted to go to the movies that night. He didn’t. She was the one that should have died. Instead she had a bum leg. It had been broken in a number of places, and the large scar on her thigh would keep her from winning any beauty pageants. She didn’t care about the way her leg looked or even that it still hurt five years later. She missed her husband.

She watched his naked body with his tight ass gently rippling disappear into the bathroom. Now that is a pleasant sight, she thought.

The water in the sink turned on. She picked up her blouse and used the back of the chair as a hanger for her jacket. She picked up his pants and used the other chair the same way. She laid his underwear and T-shirt on top. She fastened her bra and donned her blouse, leaving it unbuttoned, but she did tuck it in. The floor was cold, so she slipped the shoes on.

“Good. You’re still here,” he said. “I thought I might have dreamed it.”

“No dream,” she said as she passed him on the way to the bathroom, “just Cocheta.” That was her way of saying she couldn’t believe it either. She knew he would understand because they had that kind of connection.
