TEASER / EXCERPT:

Rose paced her bedroom, the same bedroom she used since she arrived at Winford Manor when she was a child. There was nothing wrong with the room. It was spacious and comfortable, but it wasn’t the room she dreamed of occupying. She wanted the master suite, but more important, she wanted the master.

That dream started the day she talked James into playing with her. He stayed less than an hour, but her mind exaggerated the time into something much more. Playing house was not something James wanted to do, but his mother made him promise to spend some time with her. She took advantage of that promise.

In the years since that day, her imagination exaggerated the scant events. In her embellished memory, he called her sweetheart. He told her that she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. He commented on how delicious everything was. He held her hand and kissed her cheek. In truth James sat down at the tea table. He looked at the empty cups and plates, folded his arms across his chest, and glared the entire time.

Tonight she saw Leslie kiss his cheek. Her jealousy and possessiveness spun almost out of control.

Rose stopped pacing. “She has to go. I will not have it happen again.”
