“I am an alien. Setera is in the Onaris One solar system.”
She stared at him for a long moment and then laughed.
“You’re kidding, right?” She searched his face. “You don’t
look like you are kidding.” She sounded frightened.
He squeezed her hands trying to reassure her.
“Is this some kind of a joke?” Her lips began to tremble.
He wanted to take her into his arms and comfort her, but he
knew he shouldn’t. The truth was beginning to sink in.
“No, it’s not a joke.” He tried to sound reassuring.
“Then you’re a liar. You’ve been lying to me all this time.”
Panic lived in every one of the words. Her face appeared horror stricken.
“I don’t lie.”
He watched her struggle with her thoughts.
“I know that,” she said as her eyes closed and she slid off
the chair and on to the floor.
