BLURB:
Rowena Milestone, corporate executive, has an accomplished career. Yet one thing eludes her. Try as she might she can’t seem to have an orgasm even though she likes sex. Her position in the corporate man’s world tends to intimidate her dates. They perform well enough in bed, but they just don’t push her over the edge, until she meets Stephen.

Stephen Sloan has a secret. He belongs to a very special, no holds barred, anything goes sex club. He never thought he’d meet anyone like Rowena there, so he wanted to believe her outrageous story that she didn’t know how she’d gotten there. When she disappeared without a trace he knew she’d been telling the truth. Now armed with three pieces of information he is determined to find her.

Rowena was devastated when the curator of the museum couldn’t help. Minerva had said, "If the universe is willing, he will come to you." Fat chance she has of that happening.

Here is the premise for the Mystic Museum Series

Minerva’s Mystic Museum is located in New York City. Every full moon the “powers that be” choose someone from the visitors of the museum. This someone, known as the mystic walker, will be the hero/heroine of the novel. The “powers” select someone they feel deserves a second chance, or just a chance to follow their destiny. Meet this full moon’s mystic walker!

TEASER / EXCERPT:
“First, let me assure you. We have to master and control all the things that are on these walls. We are not allowed to seriously injure anyone. Drawing blood is forbidden.”

“That makes me feel so much better,” she said sarcastically.

“Would you like a demonstration?” He moved to the wall. He took a whip in his hand.

“A demonstration is not necessary. I’ll take your word for it.” She pulled the sheet up to her chest. She couldn’t manage to keep the fear from her expression.

He gave her a sour look. “I’m not going to use this on you.”

“Oh.” She gave a tentative smile. “I thought…”

“You told me you were afraid, even terrified of the whip. Why would I use it on you?” Exasperation filled his tone.

“Because you can,” she said, her courage returning. “You made that quite clear earlier.”

“I thought I made more than that clear. This is a pleasure room, not a torture chamber. I thought you would have figured that out by now.” He frowned at her. His voice expressed his disappointment.

She felt chastised as if she were a child. “I have,” she whispered. Her cheeks flamed, she closed her eyes. “It’s just…”

“Open your eyes,” he snapped. “You have to see to believe.”

He lit three candles.

“What are you going to do?”

“Prove to you once and for all this will not hurt you.” He shook the whip in his hand. He loosened the whip from his fingertips and flipped it so its full serpentine length spread before him. The flames from the three candles flickered. “Would you like the lights on or off for the test? I can do this either way. I’m not quite good enough blindfolded yet, but I’m working on it.” He smiled.

He seemed proud of what he was about to do. “It doesn’t matter. You choose.” She had no idea of what to expect.

He flicked the whip. One of the candle flames was extinguished. The snap made her jump and gasp in surprise. Her astonishment must’ve shown in her face. He smiled. He seemed to enjoy her shock. He flipped the whip two times in rapid succession. The remaining flames were extinguished.

“Oh my God,” she breathed. “You didn’t even touch the wax.”

“So, you noticed.” He seemed pleased with himself. He gathered up the whip and put it in its place on the wall.

“I noticed.” The words were filled with awe.

“Doubting my abilities has hurt my feelings. How are you going to make it up to me?” His eyes swept over her body. They were dark and hungry.

She felt her body flush in response, and a quick jolt of excitement was awakening her nether region. “Take your clothes off and lie down. I’ll think of something.” She patted the bed next to her. She tried to give him a sexy and inviting smile.

He removed his clothes, never taking his eyes off of her. She ran her tongue over her lips before she sucked on the lower one. Stephen’s very muscular, taut frame slid into the bed next to her. Rowena straddled his hips. She eyed the handcuffs and leaned forward, reaching for them. He caught her wrist just before she could touch them.

 About Our Story

Does your family history contain scandal? Ours does, as recently as my mother’s grandfather, who was born a bastard in an era when that status carried far more stigma than now. His mother – a logger’s daughter who served as a camp cook – was shunned and shamed for much of her life. On the other side, my husband’s grandfather was a bigamist. A threshing crew foreman in the early 1900s, he married and had children in Missouri, then married again in Kansas. My husband’s grandmother divorced him when she learned of the other family; their son, my husband’s father, was ten years old.

We blessed—or perhaps cursed—our Through the Lens heroine with elements of these scandals. Naturally, she’s heard some of the stories. Through the Lens chronicles her struggle with these long-forgotten roots. Will she claim them, or run the other way?

Blurb

Prairie roots can be deceptive. Will Ellen Jeffers cling to the sedate past that’s familiar, or will she embrace a different version of her history—one that includes tragedy, scandal, fortitude, and freedom?

It’s 2002, and South Dakota third grade teacher Ellen Jeffers has signed up for a photography summer course and assistantship at an art academy in Minneapolis. Thirty-three, divorced for nearly a decade from her college boyfriend, she’s not seeking major change. She just hopes the course will enhance her teaching skills and her resume.

Aaron Brewster comes from privilege, and he has used that status to flaunt his family’s values and carve out a successful career as a photographer specializing in black and white erotic portraiture. Has he ever loved? His love is for beauty, sensuality, eroticism. His new uptight teaching assistant will never fit that vision. Should he send her packing? For reasons he cannot fathom, he takes her on as a challenge.

Aaron’s frontal assault shocks Ellen, but it also triggers something deep inside she’s never been willing to acknowledge. Is her beloved prairie a safe refuge, or will it become a crucible for transformation? The choice is not merely Ellen’s.

 Excerpt   -   Rated R

Tina never spoke a word. She half perched on the stool and raised her arms above her head with a fan in each hand, then held that pose and pouted at the class.

“Remember to look through your cameras,” Aaron said. “This isn’t a strip show.”

Ellen gasped and ducked behind her camera. By the time she had Tina in focus, Tina had placed the fans in one hand by her side, and her other hand was tucked in under her robe, probably covering a breast. Ellen swallowed as she heard cameras clicking around her. Tina smiled at her as she snapped a picture.

Ellen tried to breathe as Tina worked through a series of poses showing leg, lifting her long black hair above her head, sliding a hand suggestively under the robe and up a thigh.

Tina’s eyes sparkled. She stuck her tongue out at the group before turning to face away from them. Slowly the robe slid down to her waist. Tina held that pose as cameras clicked, and then the robe fell to the floor.

Ellen inhaled sharply as Tina bent over the stool, showing off a tight rump and sculpted thighs and legs. Before she could focus, Tina had moved a fan to shield her butt from view. There was a groan from the class.

“Sometimes subtle is more erotic,” Aaron pointed out. “And sometimes not.”

Tina turned around to face the group with the fan hiding her loins. Her long hair hid one breast. The other stood free and open to view. Its nipple stood at attention. Tina teased it with a strand of hair.

Ellen focused her lens on the nipple until it nearly filled her viewfinder.

“Goodness,” she muttered under her breath. It was as if the nipple winked at her. It was still tightening. Did that fleshy nodule know it had her entire attention? She clicked off several shots. Her own nipples were straining.

“You doing okay?”

She didn’t trust herself to take her attention off the camera to look at Aaron.

Willa J. Brand ~ presents ~ Refuge

Title: Refuge
Author: Willa J. Brand
Genre: Romance Ranch/Western

Guest Post
First, I would like to say thank so much for hosting me here on her blog. As an author, I am always grateful to be given any opportunity to post to a new audience. My first book, Refuge, was released in May of this year. It is a contemporary fiction novel with a little dash of western romance to spice things up. Although my work is self published, I have employed a professional editor and I work hard to be sure that the finished product is up to standard. I just received back the final edit of the second novel in the series, Switchback, and it is set to release this month.

Book Blurb
Taylor is a mother on the run from an abusive husband, searching for a safe place for she and her young son. Convinced that her possessive spouse is hunting them, she is paranoid, exhausted and virtually penniless. Finding herself stranded in rural Montana, she is taken in by a couple who help her not knowing her past, and she is able to find work on their ranch. She intends on staying only long enough to save the money needed to move on to a large city where she believes they will be safer. But as time passes friendships develop, as does a love interest, and Taylor struggles to hold on to her secrets. Inevitably, her past catches up with her and her worst fears will become reality.

Excerpt
“I thought we could head out east and check some fence while we see if you and Tex are a good match. Let the two of you get to know each other a bit.”

Taylor nodded as she tightened up her cinch and led the gelding into the small pen near the barn. She circled him each way before climbing up into the borrowed saddle, and then she laughed.

“I forgot how much shorter Dana is than me! I’ll have to lengthen these stirrups quite a bit…”

But Owen had followed her into the arena and handed her his gelding’s reins as he took hold of the stirrup and began to let them out for her while she sat on Tex. She was taken aback by his nearness and the unexpected gesture that for some reason seemed intimate. When he had adjusted the stirrup to where he thought would work, he gave it a jerk to be sure the fit was snug and guided her boot back into the stirrup. He looked up at her with his hand still resting on her leg and their eyes met for a moment. “Feel right?” he asked.

The way he said it gave her the impression that he was referring to something other than her stirrup length and gave her a little chill.

“Um. Yeah. Thank you,” she answered a little breathlessly.

He moved to the other side of the horse and adjusted the other stirrup, and then took back his reins before swinging up onto the big boned sorrel.

Author Bio
Willa J. Brand is a pen name for my alter ego, and although she is much more creative than I am in my daily life, we share many of the same interests.

I am a wife, mother of four children and three angels, and lover of the outdoors. I have been an avid reader from an early age and lover of all forms of literature since before I can remember. Busy as life is helping out on our family farm and caring for children, I craved some kind of creative outlet, and writing was a natural fit for me.

I love all animals and enjoy working with cattle and spending time with my horses and dogs. In more recent years I have found a love for chickens that I never knew I had, and my flock is constantly growing!

I would love to hear any feedback or questions you may have for me and I will do my best to answer any and all questions. Please feel free to reach out via the CONTACT portion of my site.

BLURB:
Adrian Asorio can't seem to move on after the death of his beloved wife Angelina. While trying to fill the lonely hours in his empty life, he discovers Minerva's Mystic Museum. A painting of a female artist painting a nude male model fascinates him. He finds himself thinking about, and wanting, the male model. He begins to question his sexuality.

Adrian is chosen as this full moon's mystic walker. He is transported to Dulce Isle where he meets Jon and Rosa in the flesh. Adrian must confront his newly discovered sexual orientation and overcome the guilt he feels.

Rosa DeVario and Jon Balentine shared a life with Rosa’s husband, Leon. When Leon died, both were heartbroken. Without Leon as their common denominator, Jon has reverted to his "loving men only" lifestyle, leaving Rosa without a partner.

Will Adrian's arrival on Dulce Isle be the answer that mends three tattered and broken lives? The universe has provided the opportunity…Adrian's heart holds the key.

Minerva, the curator and caretaker of the museum meets the chosen mystic walker. Through the magic that has been entrusted to her, Minerva supplies them with the opportunity to change their lives.

TEASER / EXCERPT:
“You have servants. Don’t they do the grocery shopping for you?” Adrian asked.

“Yes, they do, but sometimes I want to go to the market. I like to keep things real. It’s easy to forget that there are people in need when you don’t need or want for anything. I go to the market to keep things in perspective.” She put a box of cereal into the basket she was pushing. “It doesn’t matter whether or not I need anything I put into this basket. I like to shop…It brings back memories of the days when I had to worry about everything I put into my basket.

“After Leon died, I was very lonely. One day I was walking through this store. I saw a mother with three little children. One was an infant in her arms, another wasn’t walking yet, and still in diapers. The third was walking, but was very small, just a toddler.

“I watched that poor woman agonize over everything she put into her basket. She was a new face to me. She didn’t recognize me either. My heart went out to her. I couldn’t imagine what she must have felt like, needing so many things and having to do without most of them, especially since it was her little ones that were suffering.

“The children had no idea they were doing without, but I did, and I decided to change it.

“Sometimes people don’t like to accept charity. Their pride gets in the way. I didn’t want that to happen with this woman, so I approached her and pretended I was doing a survey for food brokers. I asked her to fill my carriage with anything she wanted to buy, whether she could afford it or not. She wanted to know which company I represented. I told her I’d been instructed not to divulge that information because they didn’t want to prejudice her shopping one way or the other. I told her she would be given a gift certificate for the store after checking out.

“It was amazing how easily she filled my basket. She was still very careful about what she put into hers. At one point I asked her if she was randomly selecting things for my carriage, just to be putting something into it. She assured me that if she could, she would buy every single item she was putting in there.

“We got to the register. I made sure she checked out after me. I purchased her gift certificate. After she finished paying for her purchases, I gave her the gift certificate and the carriage full of groceries. At first she wouldn’t take them. I told her they went along with the survey. She looked at the bags holding everything she wanted to buy. There was a second of hesitation before she accepted with tears filling her eyes.

“I felt so good that day. Knowing I helped someone made me feel like life was worth living again. Leon always donated to charities, and I continue to do so, but that day was special. I come here and shop, and then donate my purchases to the homeless and hungry, or to families struggling to make ends meet. People recognize me now, so I don’t get to surprise the people I help anymore. It doesn’t matter…I remember that satisfied feeling, just as I remember what it was like to be poor and hungry. Doing the shopping myself makes it personal for me.”

Adrian leaned into her and squeezed her shoulder. “You are a remarkable woman.”
