Erin Eldridge ~ presents ~ The Valarsard Chronicles

SERIES: The Valarsard Chronicles
BOOK ONE: The Ravening Heart of the Wolf
BOOK TWO: The Wolf in Winter
AUTHOR: Erin Eldridge

A brutal medieval warlord believes his lost true love has returned to him from the grave. A young girl is uprooted from the sheltered life that is all she has known and must learn to survive in a violent and pitiless world where man is wolf to man. A valiant young warrior loses his heart to her, but the unforeseen tears them apart. Fate conspires to throw all three into each other’s path with shattering results. A colorful cast of minor characters helps to create a stunning, stained-glass-montage of an adventure that will enthrall readers young, old, and in-between.

Following the dramatic events that closed Book One, the Valarsards settle back into harmonious co-existence. But tranquility is short-lived, enemies are close at hand, and both the wolf and the eagle are called upon as never before to protect loved ones and avert further tragedy.

I live in Christchurch, New Zealand. The city is still rebuilding after the devastating earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. I have been a teacher for most of my life, most recently, a teacher of deaf students. Currently, I do part time support work with International students at a boys’ college. I’ve taught overseas as well, in Africa and in Brunei. I have two children, one of who, my daughter, lives in the UK and the other, my son, lives around the corner! I started writing two years ago and have completed four books: a contemporary romance, two war stories and a medieval fantasy. I have many more ideas for stories yet to come.

Tanya Jean Russell ~ an interview and her novel Shadows of Our Past

Tanya Jean Russell

I live in England and am married to an amazing Elvis & Neil Diamond tribute artist, thanks to whom I have a house full of jumpsuits & trophies. This, of course, is a source of much embarrassment to our two teenage children!

I am a little obsessive about books and have an embarrassingly huge and ever growing pile of things that I just 'have' to read next to my bed.

I squeeze my daydreaming ... ahem ... 'writing' around my family and my day job in HR, and am convinced that chocolate & diet coke should be considered a well-balanced diet!

Q: Are you a morning person, or a midnight candle burner?
A: It’s really embarrassing to admit but I’m not either. I hate mornings and love going to bed early – if you catch me mid-afternoon you might have a chance of a half decent conversation!

Q: Bedtime, relaxing so you can sleep sounds. Is your preference white noise, TV, soft music, ocean waves, forest or meadow sounds, babbling brook, or something else?
A: Absolute silence – I’m well known for my need for total dark and silence to get to sleep. In my defense, it works really well as I sleep brilliantly!

Q: Dress up or dress down?
A: Definitely dress down. I have to wear proper grown up clothes for my day job and love getting home and changing into my jeans (or if it’s the winter my pajamas – because the dark nights are the perfect excuse for hibernating!)

Q: Coffee or Tea?
A: Oh, tea every time. Proper English tea with milk. Although, apparently my preference for weak tea, over the kind that is so strong it’s a dark orange and strips the moisture out of your mouth as you drink it, makes me weird!

Q: Where do you get your ideas?
A: As I was growing up, my mum used to say I lived in fairyland because I spent so much time in my own little daydream world. Writing has given me a valid excuse for those times people are speaking to me and I don’t even register it, because the imaginary people in my brain are talking!

Q: Are you a sit down and play it by ear kind of writer, or do you need a structured guideline, or maybe a little of both?
A: I’m definitely a play it by ear writer. After going on an amazing course once I tried to follow all the tips to plan and structure my work in progress. Unfortunately I hated it, which is weird because I’m usually really organized, write endless lists and drive my family mad with my planning.

Q: Do you always know how a story will end when you begin writing it?
A: Yes, although I don’t plan, I usually have a really clear picture of how the story starts and ends when I start writing; it’s the journey between the two that’s a mystery that slowly reveals itself as I write.

Q: What are you working on now? Would you like to share anything about it?
A: I’m working on a book called Shadows of Truth which focuses on Pippa, she’s the best friend of Amory, the female lead in Shadows of Our Past. It’s so much fun to write because she’s a real kick ass character.

Q: Do you have a new book coming out soon? Tell us about it.
A: Not yet but keep your eyes peeled for Shadows of Truth later this year!

Q: How can we find you? Do you have a web page, FaceBook page or any buy links?
A: Yes, the links are below. Get in touch, I love hearing from people!
Q: Are you currently participating in a blog tour? If you are let’s tell everyone where you’re going to be so they can catch up with you again.
A: I am, details below

Jackson Halland has spent ten years running from a mistake that cost him everything, including Amory Parker, the woman he loved. With his gut-wrenching response to her reappearance, he realizes that if she will forgive him, then maybe, just maybe, he can forgive himself.

After ten years of working undercover Amory agrees to one final mission. Vowing to get justice for the woman she promised, and failed, to protect, nothing will stand in her way, not the prolific criminal she’s determined to bring down and certainly not coming face to face with the man she fell in love with on her very first undercover assignment, even if he has no idea who she really is, or the part she played in his past.

Amory was so engrossed in her thoughts she didn’t hear the approaching sound of bare feet, padding on the smooth wooden floor, until a deep groan broke through them and she looked up to see Jackson. His mussed, dark blond hair was shot through with strands of gold in the overhead lighting.

The man was incredibly made. His arms stretching up and behind his head caused the bottom of his t-shirt to lift a few teasing inches, revealing a tantalizing glimpse of a tanned, rock-hard stomach. They weren’t the sculpted lines that came from the gym, but powerful, solid muscles. A fine trail of hair led the way to the top of his loose navy shorts. As he reached the bottom of the stairs, her gaze was transfixed.

His legs were long and thick, every muscle rippling as he moved down the stairs into the hallway. A rush of heat shot through her body, setting every nerve alight. Her stomach rolled as she absorbed the sight while a little lower everything tightened and tingled. She’d hoped that her memory had been flawed, tinted by the rose-colored lenses of what she had long since accepted was her first love. That clearly wasn’t the case. Rather than letting himself go he had become more impressive. The slenderness of youth had filled out, living up to the promise of overwhelming masculinity.

His lean muscles had broadened, and whilst the softness of youth had faded from his features, it had left a strong profile in its wake. Jackson had grown up all man. She gulped, heat flooding her.

The good feeling from her run was replaced by a more base desire to touch every inch of his perfect body. To pull it hard against her own and feel those muscular planes mold against her. She unconsciously licked her lips as she watched him.

As she met his eyes, the feeling of heat evaporated, replaced by a harsh chill of dread that sank through to her toes. His emotions were playing across his face and it was clear that, despite her DCI’s reassurances, Jackson had joined the dots and figured out who she was. The recognition clearly shocked him as his whole body jolted abruptly to a stop.

Unable to move, she stared helplessly as he began to walk toward her, his face a mix of unreadable emotions. As he reached out, her body began to respond to the heat that rolled off of him. The scent of his skin washed over her, but she moved back defensively. It was a tactical mistake, giving away that she knew who he was, that she had known all along.

“Amory?” he whispered, hope shining oddly through that one word.

Almost imperceptibly shaking her head, all her professionalism flew out the window, and with her heart sinking she managed a stuttered whisper, “N-n-no… No, you’re wrong. I’m Olivia.”

No amount of training was going to get her through this. Despite her only half-admitted hope that he’d see who she really was, Amory knew too much was at stake for this to happen, but it had. Now she had to endure the awful consequences of him recognizing her, the hatred that would follow this moment.

Ana Balen was born in Zagreb, Croatia, where she still lives with her husband, their son (read boss!) and the son’s pet rabbit named Shhh! (or some other gibberish that’s the favorite of their son for the day.)

She spends her days driving her husband up the wall (when he can’t get her ass up from the bed in the mornings), reading and daydreaming, or following orders from a two-year old. In the hectic life she leads (and loves every second of it), she never thought about writing. But, then one day a name popped in her head, then, the snippets of things, and she sat down and started typing. Next thing, she wrote a book. And now, she’s trying to write another one ;)

Ellie Barker ~ presents ~ In Bed With The Enemy

Warning: Adult language.

Out Now
In Bed with the Enemy, Undercover Lovers: Book Two
by Ellie Barker
(@sinfulpress @EllieBa3)

Released on June 15th 2018 from Sinful Press, In Bed with the Enemy is the new LGBT erotic crime novella by Ellie Barker, and is the second novella in the Undercover Lovers trilogy.

In Bed with the Enemy continues the story of Nikolas, a bisexual police mole, and Sky, a transgender thief, as they work to infiltrate the local crime syndicate. Ellie Barker has created a fast paced and highly entertaining trilogy, with a diverse range of characters, various sexual encounters, and unconventional romance. Secrets and Spies, the first in the trilogy, was released in May 2018, and For Queen and Country, the remaining book in the trilogy, is due for release on July 13th 2018.

In Bed with the Enemy is Amazon exclusive for a limited time before being released across all main platforms. It is available to read through Kindle Unlimited.

Nikolas Jinsen, police mole and mafia odd-job man, is given an ultimatum; stop seeing his girlfriend, or lose his job. When a hasty attempt to keep both goes wrong, he does the only thing he can think of: he lies. But with his new roommate a member of the elite gang that Nikolas has been tasked to look into, and his assignations with his girlfriend constantly interrupted by calls on his services as a lover, Nikolas finds that work isn't all fun and games.

I pulled out my phone.

Bear answered within two rings. “Nikolas! This is a pleasant surprise.”

“I changed my mind about that nightcap, if the offer’s still open,” I told him.

“Why the change of heart?” He sounded a bit surprised.

“I can’t stop thinking about you.” And actually, it was true. I wanted to know what he was like in bed. How far down that beard went. What was under that suit. What he looked like when he came.

“I thought you didn’t do one-offs?”

“Sky wants to hear all about it afterwards.”

I heard the bellow of laughter down the phone, and then he came back on the line, still chuckling. “Well, I can’t disappoint her, can I. When?”

“What’s wrong with now?”

Forty-five minutes later, I was getting out of a taxi at the foot of a tower block. Ten minutes had been picking up a bottle of wine that I liked, wondering if he’d like it, checking with Sky—who told me she didn’t have a fucking clue and I’d just got her killed, which meant she was playing something with Benny—and going back to my original choice. And now I was here, looking up at the lit windows above me and thinking about Tanya’s exhibitionism.

I’d wondered about getting a hotel room, but Bear had invited me over and I’d accepted. It meant if there was a trap I was walking into it, but then a hotel room had a veneer of anonymity that I didn’t necessarily like. Sky knew where I was going, and had offered to come and rescue me if needed—and that meant she could potentially bring both the Queen and Tanya’s resources down on someone’s head. Tanya Mardos didn’t care about much in the world, but I figured she’d probably have something to say if her current sex toy wasn’t available on demand.

And so I headed for the main door and pushed the button for the flat intercom.

“Yes?” Bear’s voice said almost immediately.

“Come on up.”

Boredom quickly turns into adventure and self-discovery that are fraught with danger and gut-wrenching decisions. Can Seth bring peace between his Nila family and the inhabitants, and does he have time?

Q. What does psoriasis feel like?
SETH. It’s one of those conditions that affects your emotional side as much as the physical. For me, my skin has a cycle. Dry, flaky skin builds so your skin appears whitish. As it crusts over it begins to itch, and I struggle to not scratch. Some spots feel like large angry mosquito bites. It never fails that I unconsciously let down and scratch, then I can’t stop. It feels both good and painful, so it’s hard to quit once you begin. From this point on my skin both itches and burns, and is easily sloughed off in the shower, which begins a new cycle with smooth, bright red skin. Having people see your skin is embarrassing and judgment is felt, whether real or perceived. It feels like I’ve spent all of my life wearing pants and long sleeve shirts, even in the heat of the summer, to avoid being seen as ugly.

Q. Becoming Nila must have felt wonderful. Can you explain the feeling of transforming?
SETH. First you hear the sounds. The wind and clicking fully command your attention. I’m still not sure if the sounds come from within me or are external noises of transforming. It feels like you’re leaving your body … making ready for it to be vacated with something new. There’s no pain, like the stretching or distorting of body parts that leave you moaning or screaming. You suddenly sense the world different. The water temperature is the first sensation noticed. It’s always warmer, softer—it’s hard to explain. Like when I transform the other direction, the air is refreshing, light, and freeing. And yes, being Nila without psoriasis can only be described as pure joy. Through this experience I’ve learned that psoriasis is exhausting.

Q. What’s it like to live and breathe under water?
SETH. At first it was traumatic. The physical need to expand your lungs with air is huge. I mean, it’s more than just needing air, it’s addictive, which is why we constantly do it without realizing it. When that sensation is suddenly taken away, well, it was overwhelming. Once you get past this sensation, there is a pervading peace that settles over your body. The constant need for lungs chugging for air is released.

I’d describe living in the water as having the feeling of constantly being loved. The ocean’s unconditional embrace is always there. As human, we don’t feel the air in the same way … it’s much more subtle … except in the wind, which doesn’t feel like love.

Q. What can you say about Her? Is She also Nila, another species that lives in the universe, what?
SETH. Of course much more is revealed in Nila-Air, and even more in Nila-Fire. I would spoil the story if I told you, but what I can say, She is the feminine and masculine within each of us. She is the spiritual and guiding light we all seek. When you find Her, become Her, then answers to why there is life, and the purpose of your life begins to unfold. If only everyone were in earnest pursuit of Her … our world would become healthy, and how we interact with one another dramatically shift.

Q. Tell me about your father, Sam.
SETH. Short laugh …

Q. Is he the bad guy or the good guy? He vacillates between the two in my mind, but at the end of the story, a drop of doubt splashes over you.
SETH. What is good? What is bad? We create first impression all the time, that’s part of our nature—survival instinct I suspect. Perspective is what’s missing with initial judgments. The not knowing their side of the story—what makes them tick? I’m sure you’ve run into people that appear all wonderful, but as you get to know them, their ugliness leaks out. The Nila story plays off this aspect of duality. For individuals, and life in general, uncertainty ebbs and flows. This creates our drama, what moves our chest board pieces. Is a parent good or bad when they punish a child for bad behavior?

Q. Last question. Tell me about Kate?
SETH. She is my first love. The first person I wanted to express my feelings with, and even more frightening, expose my skin to. At the same time—my duality and inner conflict—to hide my imperfections from her even more.

Kate is complex. She’s in a situation that requires heartache, but I don’t see this. I only glimpse the side she allows me to see. Also, my immaturity creates unnecessary pain in my heart. Yet, I yearn for companionship, love and affection. What I eventually learn through “Her” is that love is simply two hearts resonating with one another?

Author of Oaf in Ophir and Oaf in Bear River, Daniel shares his passion for inspiring and uplifting stories—where entering the realm of the magical and spiritual blend with the heartbeat of all life—and creatures see answers to those deep questions that stir within us. Daniel received two BAs from the University of California Santa Barbara and spent most of his career as an IT programmer, but his passion is creating stories.

Kitty Honeycutt ~ 4th interview and her novel ~ Where This World Ends

Kitty Honeycutt

Where This World Ends
(A Collection of Short Stories From Masquerade de Minuit)
ISBN: 978-1985075122
GENRE: Supernatural Thriller

KEYWORDS: vampires, werewolf, shifters, monsters, sexual depravity, human nature, predators, fantasy, New Orleans, masquerade, the abyss, darkness, dark fantasy, supernatural, paranormal

Where this World ends there is another World inhabited by creatures that come from the imaginations of multiple people. Step inside their minds and meet them...

Many of these short stories have the same characters in them, in different times and in different places. This is the first book of chronicles of role play that started on AOL years ago up until it’s demise.  All stories in this book take place in New Orleans in the 1800’s. The stories are collaborations by many people but mostly by my writing partner Amber Rendon and myself. We hope you’ll enjoy them, they are in their true form, some editing done for aesthetics as well as grammar and while I cannot promise they are in order to complete a whole story, I have done the best I could to put them together in such a way that each story is unique yet fits into the whole of a novel. There is something for everyone in this collection; vampires, werewolves, sex, seduction, blood and tears. This book is a celebration of a montage of writers from many places. We thank you for reading and wait in humble gratitude for your opinions and reviews.

Kitty Honeycutt

Q: If your life were a movie, would it be considered an action film, comedy, drama, romance, fantasy or a combination?
A: I would go with drama all the way. There are a lot of comedy elements but mostly drama. I have had quite the life including being homeless at one point and I can say that I’ve seen the best and the worst in people.

Q: Tell me one thing that your spouse does that really endears him/her to you. One thing that annoys you. These can be tiny little things, actually the smaller the better.
A: Everything about my spouse annoys me. We are getting a divorce, I think that sums it up.

Q: Did you like school when you were a child?
A: I loved it! I was a straight A student for most of my school career until high school. I think that is always the hardest. High school was not that fun for me.

Q: Which of your own releases was your particular favorite?
A: It’s not released yet but will be soon, I think it would have to be Crazy Cat Lady simply because of how the story came about. My cat Salem inspired it as I got the idea while he was lying across my stomach in bed one night.

Q: How do you handle a writer's block?
A: I’ve not had it yet, but when I do, I’ll be sure to come back and let you know.

Q: Do you write longhand first, or does it go straight into the computer?
A: Right now it goes straight to computer. I’m losing a lot of feeling in my hands and I’m having trouble actually holding a pen or pencil and writing so I always like to type, it makes it a lot easier.

Q: Are you a sit down and play it by ear kind of writer, or do you need a structured guideline, or maybe a little of both?
A: I do a bit of both. I structure first most of the time but it always ends up changing some so I suppose I’d be a structured spur of the moment writer. ;)

Q: How can we find you? Do you have a web page, FaceBook page or any buy links?
A: Yes, I do. Here are the links.

Anger, frustration and the inability to think straight had led him to this. It had been almost a month since he’d had a fresh catch and tonight he could bear it no more.  Dressed to impeccable taste as always the patron of the arts left the mansion but with one intent… and that was to find a good meal.  Upon entering the French Quarter he took stock with abysmal eyes, roving over the many delectable choices and listening to the whispers in their mind as they passed.  There was one… hair a bit unusual much like that of his Dove and she loitered beside a cart of fresh vegetables.  The smell of old money wafted from her form as though every sway of her body released the perfume upon the air calling out to him and causing him to still his steps.  His hands clasped in front of him he watched her through a veil of passersby and counted each precious second in his mind until he had a clear path for the connection.  He gained her name from the shopkeeper’s lips and a smile curled his tiers and never did they part as he repeated that name to be bourn upon the winds and carried to her mind. “Miss DeLuca….”  She turned to face him and he captured her eyes for a moment before she turned back to the cart.  Again her name was sent as a beacon, “Miss DeLucaaa…” This time she did not turn though shook her head as though she thought she was going insane.

Armand couldn’t help it, he needed to play with his food for a while, so again he spoke within her mind this time it was not simply her name. “I want to touch you…. Can’t you feel me touching you?” An image sent as well, fleeting but detailed of his fingers upon her neck as she tilted her head to the side, digits running down to her collar bone and over the gentle swell of one breast.  He watched as her eyes closed and her body seemed to move in that subtle way as though she were responding.  The shopkeeper looked at her as though she were insane and suddenly realizing she jerked upright and grabbed the small basket of goods from him before turning sharply and that’s when he caught her gaze again. “Come to me…”  Still his lips never once betrayed the ventriloquist act and only lifted more into a sublime smile as she hurried across the street and to his side.  He offered his arm, she took it as though in a daze and began to walk with him back toward the Devereaux Mansion.  She was trembling, oh how delicious it was when they trembled and as he looked her over he had an idea.  It was an idea that was taken from the well within him, the one that now harbored anger and torment for what his family was being put through.  It had been too long since he’d taken pleasure in what he was and so this poor girl would pay the price… of his lust, desires…

Leading her through the gate, the guards simply nodded. Yes, ghouls they were under the thrall of the house of course as were the servants and Armand was good to them, secrets would never be betrayed even under the duress of torture.  Every step she took she’d realize that it was a nail in her coffin but she could do nothing to stop herself.  Completely in his control and even through her horror as well as her fear she still longed to feel his touch as she’d felt it in the Quarter.  Trevor opened the door as though he knew his master was there and Armand led her inside.  Guiding her to the staircase at the side of the larger one he helped her navigate the steps until they reached the landing.  From there she tried to turn with the last bit of mind still under her own control and he lifted her like a child, carrying her into his room.  The door closed and locked just for good measure though none would disturb him here.  He took her to his bed and lay her upon the soft mattress.  For the first time she’d hear actual words leave his lips and those smoldering eyes seemed to travel the full length of her body making her shudder with a mixture of desire and fright. “Shhh, it will bit alright, it’s not your time just yet.”  No, in fact he intended to take his time.  He came to rest at her side, hands lifted to undo the bindings of her gown and she could not move, paralyzed by what she had seen in his eyes.
