Minerva’s Mystic Museum is located in New York City. Every full moon the “powers that be” choose someone from the visitors of the museum. This someone, known as the mystic walker, will be the hero/heroine of the novel. The “powers” select someone they feel deserves a second chance, or just a chance to follow their destiny. Minerva, the curator and caretaker of the museum meets the chosen mystic walker. Through the magic that has been entrusted to her, Minerva supplies them with the opportunity to change their lives.

TEASER / EXCERPT:

Korina woke to the most delicious feelings swirling through her body. Not wanting the sensation to come to an end, she moved slightly and opened her eyes just a slit.

A young boy ran from house. The screen door slammed closed behind him. His face bore a huge smile as he flung himself into the old man and wrapped his arms around Hugo’s waist.

“Pop-pop, where have you been? I looked all over for you.”

Hugo leaned down so the boy could kiss his cheek.

“Didn’t Nana tell you I went into town?”

“Yes, but sometimes she forgets things, so I couldn’t be sure.”

“What about Uncle Harold?”

“He was out in the fields.”

“You were a good boy to stay here then.”

“I knew you’d say that.” The boy grinned up at the old man. Pride filled his face and his chest puffed out.

“Did you?” Hugo asked, looking down at the boy. The old man picked the boy up and carried him halfway to the house before he put him down. The boy’s head turned at the sound of the truck door opening.

Shamika slid out of the truck. She hadn’t noticed how high up it was when she’d climbed in. Her feet still hurt, so she stumbled a bit before she closed the door.

The boy’s mouth dropped open as he stared. “Who’s that, Pop-pop?”

“Someone who needs our help,” Hugo replied, squeezing the boy’s shoulder.

“What happened to her clothes?”

“It is quite an interesting work, wouldn’t you say?” she asked when she finally spoke.

He rose as any gentleman would.

She smiled a friendly greeting. “I am Minerva, caretaker of this museum.”

“It’s a nice place.”

“We try to make people happy. What do you think of this piece?” She tilted her head.

“It’s interesting.”

“The model has such a compelling form. Even a man such as yourself can appreciate his male beauty. I know he sets my heart aflutter.” She smiled.

“I can and I do.” Does she know how I feel about him?

She stepped to the side and stood next to him. She seemed enthralled with the painting. The room the red-haired artist painted in was bright, and sunlight streamed in from everywhere. Windows seems to enclose the room. The paintings sitting on the floor leaned against the glass walls and rested against each other. In some places they were two and three deep. A vase of fresh flowers, roses by the look of them, adorned a small table next to the woman.

After a long moment, she asked, “Do you think they are in love?”

“I never really thought about that,” he said. I imagine him loving me.

“It is a shame we cannot see his face.”

“That, I have thought about,” Adrian remarked.

“Have you come to any conclusions?”

“I’m not a connoisseur of art,” he said. “But his body is fit and desirable. Maybe he is faceless so we can imagine someone ourselves.”

“Or possibly he is disfigured.”

“Hmm, that wouldn’t stop her or anyone from loving him,” he said.

“Do you think so?”

“Yes.”

“You sound sure of that.” She placed her hand on his arm for a moment.

“This picture touches my soul. I don’t know why.” He cleared his throat, embarrassed by his admission.
