ONE LINER:
A young shifter
who battles all odds to survive. Her life is linked together with a human. If she dies, the world will be doomed.
SYNOPSIS:
Callisto Bennett,
has just discovered who she really is two years ago. Her mother and step family
know. She does all she can to protect everyone. The guy she’s been in love with
for four years promises to never leave her. As time passes she realizes she’s not
just a shape shifter. Hearts are broken, new bonds are formed, and blood is
shed. She never quits fighting to live.
She strives to survive in this terrifying new world. There is always at
least one person to live for, because once she dies, so will he.
Callisto: “Yes, I’m ready.” She says with a smile.
Melanie: “Great! So Callisto, we are all interested to know, how was it to get in a fight with your best friend nearly the moment she returned home from vacation?”
Callisto: “It was awful.” She sighs. “There is a strength in me, it scares me sometimes, but when I feel the need to protect someone or something, I feel a rage inside me. That night I thought my home was being attacked. I was afraid for my family, for their safety.”
Melanie: “It’s okay, I’m not judging you Callisto, I’m only curious.”
Callisto: “When I saw it was Luna, my best friend, I stopped instantly. It was actually the first time I healed someone. I still had her paw in my mouth and when I realized it was her, my thoughts changed from wanting to kill her, to hoping she’d survive.
Melanie: “Moving along. Let’s fast forward to Amish country. You spent the night with the Lapp family.”
Callisto: She nods. “Jessie wasn’t happy about it. I couldn’t see, but they saw the way the eldest son Benjamin looked at me. The moment I realized of his infatuation with me I left.”
Melanie: “But you had your sight returned to you, because of the English man. He hit you in the head with a shovel, ending your blindness.”
Callisto: She drops her head. “Yes, I guess I can say I’m thankful for that.”
Melanie: Later you and Luna hid in the bushes, waiting to protect that same family. There the Queen found you.
Callisto: “Yes, she took me away, to find Zack.”
Melanie: “You also were told Jessie left you…”
Callisto: “I’d like to not talk about that, if you don’t mind.”
Melanie: I nod, with sympathy. “So you flew away.”
Callisto: “On a griffin to California. Zack found me, just before I nearly starved to death, and he took me to his apartment.”
Melanie: “Your griffin called you a bad actor.” I say with a small laugh.
Callisto: She smiles. “Yes, well I never said I was good at that.”
Melanie: And Zack, he didn’t discover your secret-”
Callisto: “He had his suspicions.” She interrupts. “It got harder to pretend when I received a note. A break up letter.”
Melanie: “Delivered by a dragon. Weren’t you scared?” I gasp.
Callisto: She shakes her head. “No, but after another week Zack and I had to leave, and he learned my secret. We found a safe home for a while, but we had to run again.”
Melanie: “This is where your dreams got worse.”
Callisto: “Yes. I heard my dead father in my thoughts, telling me to run.”
Melanie: “How did you know to trust it?”
Callisto: “Leap of faith I suppose. I sent my new friends and Zack on the back of my griffin, while I ran, distracting the enemy.
Melanie: “Your uncle.”
Callisto: “He taunted me. Eventually he got closer to me, I couldn’t run I was so scared.”
Melanie: “You didn’t show it.”
Callisto: “I’m surprised.” She looks up at the sky as if seeing it all over again. “He was about to kill me.”
Melanie: “What stopped him?”
Callisto: “My father.” Her eyes return to mine, and she smiles.
Character Interview:
Melanie: “I have Callisto here, and she has agreed to answer a few questions. Are you ready Callisto?” Callisto: “Yes, I’m ready.” She says with a smile.
